Description

A Slice of Heaven Cake is a luscious and indulgent chocolate dessert that combines a moist devil’s food or German chocolate cake base with sweetened condensed milk, rich caramel topping, and fluffy Cool Whip. Topped with chopped Snickers bars for an extra crunch and more caramel drizzle, this cake is a crowd-pleaser perfect for parties or anytime you need a decadent delight.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cake

  • 1 package devil’s food chocolate or German chocolate cake mix

Toppings and Add-Ins

  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 jar caramel topping (about 12-14 oz)
  • 1 (8 oz) tub Cool Whip
  • 4-5 Snickers bars (or Skor, Heath bar, or mini Reese’s), chopped

Instructions

  1. Bake the Cake: Prepare the cake mix according to the package directions, then bake the cake in a 9×13 inch pan until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, usually around 30-35 minutes.
  2. Cool Slightly: Allow the cake to cool for about 5 minutes once it is out of the oven.
  3. Poke Holes: Using the handle of a wooden spoon, carefully poke holes all over the surface of the warm cake to help the sweetened condensed milk soak in deeply.
  4. Cool Until Warm: Let the cake cool for about 30 minutes until it is warm but not hot to the touch.
  5. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk and Caramel: Slowly pour the entire 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake, making sure it seeps into the holes you poked earlier. Then drizzle the jar of caramel topping over the cake evenly.
  6. Cool Completely: Let the cake cool completely at room temperature or refrigerate it to speed cooling. Cover it well to prevent drying out.
  7. Top with Cool Whip and Candy: Once the cake is fully cooled, spread the 8 oz tub of Cool Whip evenly over the top. Then sprinkle chopped Snickers bars or your choice of candy over the Cool Whip and drizzle additional caramel topping for extra richness.
  8. Serve and Enjoy: Slice and serve this decadent treat to delighted guests and enjoy every rich, creamy bite.

Notes

  • Use your preferred chocolate cake mix: devil’s food or German chocolate both work beautifully.
  • Make sure the cake is warm but not hot before adding the sweetened condensed milk to prevent it from running off the sides.
  • Refrigerate the cake after assembling to help it set and make slicing easier.
  • Substitute the Snickers bars with other candies like Skor or Heath bars for a different texture and flavor.
  • For an extra touch, add a sprinkle of sea salt on top of the caramel drizzle.
