Description

Air Fryer Bang Bang Salmon Bites are crispy, flavorful salmon cubes coated in a seasoned panko crust and air fried to perfection. Served with a creamy, spicy bang bang sauce made from mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey, these salmon bites make a delicious appetizer or snack in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon Bites

  • 1 lb (450 g) salmon fillet, skinless, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Cooking spray

Bang Bang Sauce

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp sriracha (adjust for spice preference)
  • 1 tsp honey (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon Bites: Pat the salmon cubes dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture, ensuring the coating adheres well.
  2. Set up a dredging station: Arrange three bowls—one with all-purpose flour, the second with beaten eggs, and the third with panko breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Coat the Salmon: Dredge each salmon cube first in flour, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat thoroughly with the seasoned panko breadcrumbs. Press the breadcrumbs gently to adhere well.
  4. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 to 5 minutes to ensure crispy, evenly cooked bites.
  5. Air Fry the Salmon: Arrange the coated salmon cubes in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap. Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray to promote browning.
  6. Cook: Air fry for 7 to 10 minutes, flipping the salmon bites halfway through the cooking time until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  7. Make the Bang Bang Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  8. Serve: Drizzle the bang bang sauce over the salmon bites or serve it on the side as a dipping sauce. Optional garnishes like chopped green onions or sesame seeds can be added for extra flavor and visual appeal.

Notes

  • Make sure to dry the salmon cubes well to help the breading stick better and result in maximum crispiness.
  • You can adjust the amount of sriracha in the sauce according to your preferred spice level.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake the salmon bites in an oven at 425°F (220°C) for about 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • For an extra crispy crust, double dip the salmon cubes by repeating the egg and panko coating steps.
  • Leftover salmon bites can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated in the air fryer to maintain crispiness.
