Ingredients
Scale
Sausage Gravy
- 1 (16 ounce) package breakfast sausage
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- Ground black pepper to taste
Pizza Base and Toppings
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
- 1 (12 inch) pre-baked pizza crust
- Cooking spray
- 6 eggs
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or as desired)
Instructions
- Cook Sausage: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the breakfast sausage and cook, stirring frequently, until browned and fully cooked, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain excess grease and discard it.
- Make Sausage Gravy: Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the browned sausage and stir until the flour is fully dissolved and coated on the sausage. Slowly pour in 2 cups of milk, stirring occasionally. Continue cooking and stirring until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency, about 10 minutes. Season the gravy with ground black pepper to taste.
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to preheat at 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the pizza.
- Prepare Pizza Crust: Place the pre-baked pizza crust on a baking sheet. Optional: brush the crust lightly with olive oil to enhance crispiness and flavor. Spread half of the prepared sausage gravy evenly over the crust.
- Scramble Eggs: Spray a large skillet with cooking spray and warm over medium-high heat. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and ¼ cup milk until well combined. Pour the egg mixture into the skillet and cook, stirring constantly, until the eggs are fully set but still moist, approximately 5 minutes.
- Assemble Pizza: Spoon the scrambled eggs evenly over the gravy layer on the pizza crust. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the eggs.
- Bake Pizza: Place the assembled pizza in the preheated oven and bake until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbling, about 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool briefly before slicing and serving.
Notes
- You can customize the cheese type depending on your preference, mozzarella or pepper jack work well.
- For extra flavor, consider adding chopped green onions or cooked bell peppers to the scrambled eggs before topping the pizza.
- If you prefer a thinner crust, you can use a flatbread crust instead of a pre-baked pizza crust.
- Leftover sausage gravy can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Use low-fat milk or dairy alternatives to reduce fat content if desired.
