Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Filling
- 1 lb cooked shredded chicken
- ½ cup buffalo sauce (adjust to taste)
- ¼ cup cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons ranch seasoning mix
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
Subs
- 4 large hoagie rolls
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese (remaining)
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (remaining)
Garnish
- Fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Prepare the Chicken Filling: In a bowl, mix together the shredded cooked chicken, buffalo sauce, softened cream cheese, ranch seasoning mix, and half of the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Stir until the mixture is creamy and well combined.
- Prepare the Hoagie Rolls: Carefully slice each hoagie roll lengthwise without cutting all the way through, creating a pocket for the filling. Brush the outside of each roll with melted butter for a golden crust.
- Stuff the Rolls: Generously spoon the buffalo chicken mixture into each hoagie roll, then top each with the remaining mozzarella and cheddar cheeses.
- Bake: Place the stuffed hoagie rolls on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and the bread is golden and slightly crispy.
- Serve: Remove the subs from the oven, let them cool for a minute, garnish with freshly chopped parsley, then slice and serve hot for the best flavor experience.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of buffalo sauce to make the filling spicier or milder to suit your taste preference.
- For extra crispiness, you may broil the subs for 1-2 minutes at the end of baking, watching carefully to prevent burning.
- If you do not have ranch seasoning mix, substitute with a teaspoon each of garlic powder, onion powder, and dried dill plus salt and pepper to taste.
- Use your favorite brand of buffalo sauce or homemade sauce for a customized flavor profile.
