Ingredients
Scale
Vegetables
- 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed
Seasonings & Oils
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (optional)
Cheeses
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Asparagus: Arrange the trimmed asparagus spears in a single layer on the baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle garlic powder, salt, and pepper evenly over the asparagus. Toss gently to ensure all spears are well coated with the seasoning and oil.
- Initial Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the asparagus for 10 minutes. This will begin to tenderize the spears.
- Add Cheese: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the asparagus. If you like a bit of heat, sprinkle red pepper flakes as well.
- Final Bake: Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese melts thoroughly and becomes bubbly and lightly golden.
- Garnish and Serve: After baking, remove from the oven and garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve immediately while warm for best taste and texture.
Notes
- For crispier asparagus, choose thinner spears and avoid overcrowding the baking sheet.
- If you prefer a stronger garlic flavor, substitute garlic powder with fresh minced garlic.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated.
- Red pepper flakes are optional and can be adjusted to taste or omitted entirely for a milder dish.
