Description

These Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks are a perfect appetizer or snack, featuring a crispy golden crust topped with melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, infused with garlic and Italian herbs. Ready in just 25 minutes, they’re best served warm with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Breadsticks

  • 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For Garnish and Serving

  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
  • Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or pizza stone to prevent the breadsticks from sticking.
  2. Prepare Dough: Roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle approximately 1/4 inch thick, then transfer it to the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Make Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with the minced garlic. Brush this garlic butter generously over the surface of the rolled-out pizza dough.
  4. Add Cheese and Seasoning: Evenly sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the dough, then add the grated Parmesan cheese on top. Season with dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper to taste.
  5. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes until the cheese is fully melted, bubbly, and golden brown around the edges.
  6. Cool and Garnish: Remove the breadsticks from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves for added flavor and color.
  7. Slice and Serve: Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, slice the baked dough into 8 to 12 individual breadsticks. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust, bake on a preheated pizza stone instead of a baking sheet.
  • You can customize the herbs by adding garlic powder, red pepper flakes, or fresh rosemary.
  • To make it spicier, add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes to the garlic butter.
  • Store leftover breadsticks in an airtight container; reheat in the oven for best texture.
  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free pizza dough.
