Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a casserole dish to prevent sticking and ensure easy serving.
- Mix Base: In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream. Whisk or stir until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
- Add Flavorings: Stir in the minced onion, minced green pepper, chopped green onions, garlic powder, mustard powder, and Old Bay seasoning. Mix these ingredients thoroughly to distribute the flavors evenly throughout the base.
- Add Crab and Cheese: Gently fold in the flaked imitation crab meat, shredded Swiss cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, and finely chopped chives. Be careful to combine everything without breaking up the crab flakes too much.
- Bake: Transfer the mixed casserole ingredients into the prepared dish. Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes until the mixture is bubbly and the top is slightly golden brown.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve warm over your choice of steamed rice or pasta for a hearty and comforting meal.
Notes
- Ensure the cream cheese is properly softened for easier mixing and a smoother texture.
- Old Bay seasoning adds a classic seafood flavor but can be adjusted to taste if preferred milder.
- You can substitute imitation crab with real crab meat for a more authentic flavor, but adjust cooking time accordingly.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
- Adding a breadcrumb topping before baking can provide a crunchy texture if desired.
