Description

Eagle Brand Magic Cookie Bars are a deliciously rich and easy-to-make dessert featuring a buttery graham cracker crust layered with semi-sweet chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, shredded coconut, chopped pecans, and sweetened condensed milk. Baked to golden perfection, these bars make a perfect treat for any occasion with their wonderful combination of textures and flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 2 cups crushed graham crackers

Toppings

  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 12 ounces butterscotch baking chips
  • 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk (Eagle Brand)
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare crust: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Melt the butter directly in a 9×13 inch baking pan, then sprinkle the crushed graham crackers evenly over the melted butter. Mix thoroughly to combine, pressing the graham cracker mixture evenly into the bottom of the pan to form a firm crust.
  2. Add sweetened condensed milk: Pour the entire 14-ounce can of Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk evenly over the unbaked graham cracker crust, spreading carefully to cover all areas.
  3. Top with chips and nuts: Evenly sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips, butterscotch baking chips, shredded coconut, and chopped pecans over the sweetened condensed milk layer.
  4. Bake the bars: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the edges of the bars are golden brown and the topping is set.
  5. Cool and serve: Remove the pan from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely before cutting into squares. Enjoy your delicious magic cookie bars!

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh shredded coconut rather than dried sweetened coconut for a richer flavor.
  • Press the crust firmly to ensure a good base that holds together when cutting.
  • These bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week at room temperature.
  • To speed up cooling, refrigerate the bars after they’ve cooled down to room temperature.
  • Feel free to substitute pecans with walnuts or almonds if preferred.
