Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Batter
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Peanut Butter Layer and Toppings
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup peanut butter chips
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease removal of the brownies.
- Melt Butter and Mix Sugar: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar to combine.
- Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time to the butter and sugar mixture, beating well after each addition to ensure a smooth batter. Stir in the vanilla extract for flavor.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, and salt until well blended.
- Mix Dry Ingredients with Wet: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the butter mixture, stirring gently until just combined to avoid overmixing which can make brownies tough.
- Layer Batter in Pan: Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly to form the base layer.
- Spread Peanut Butter: Microwave the peanut butter in a microwave-safe bowl for 20-30 seconds until soft and easy to spread. Evenly spread the peanut butter over the brownie batter in the baking dish.
- Add Remaining Batter: Pour the remaining brownie batter over the peanut butter layer and spread it evenly to cover completely.
- Add Chips Topping: Sprinkle the chocolate chips and peanut butter chips evenly over the top layer of brownie batter.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center—it should come out with a few moist crumbs but no wet batter.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan to set properly before cutting into 16 squares and serving.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter once the dry ingredients are added, as this can result in dense brownies.
- You can substitute peanut butter chips for extra chocolate chips or vice versa according to your taste preference.
- Allow the brownies to fully cool before cutting to prevent crumbling.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
