Ingredients
Scale
Steak
- 2 ribeye steaks (1-inch thick)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Shrimp
- 1/2 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Garlic Butter Sauce
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Prepare the Steaks: Bring steaks to room temperature by leaving them out for 30 minutes. Pat them dry with paper towels and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
- Sear the Steaks: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Carefully place the steaks in the hot skillet and sear for 3-4 minutes per side to reach medium-rare doneness. Adjust time for preferred doneness. Remove steaks from skillet and allow them to rest while you prepare the shrimp.
- Cook the Shrimp: In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Toss shrimp with paprika, cayenne pepper if using, salt, and pepper. Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and cooked through. Remove shrimp and set aside.
- Make the Garlic Butter Sauce: Lower the skillet heat to medium. Add the unsalted butter and let it melt, then add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant, stirring continuously. Stir in chopped parsley and lemon juice to brighten the sauce.
- Combine and Warm: Return the rested steaks and cooked shrimp to the skillet. Spoon the warm garlic butter sauce over all the protein. Let everything warm together for 1-2 minutes to meld flavors.
- Serve: Plate the ribeye steaks and place the shrimp on the side or atop the steak. Drizzle any remaining garlic butter sauce over the top and serve immediately for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Allowing the steaks to come to room temperature ensures even cooking.
- Adjust shrimp seasoning heat by omitting cayenne pepper if preferred mild.
- Letting the steak rest after cooking locks in juices for a tender bite.
- The garlic butter sauce can be enhanced with a splash of white wine or a pinch of red pepper flakes for extra depth.
- Use fresh herbs like parsley for best flavor; dried herbs will alter the taste.
