Ingredients
Scale
For the Steak
- 10 oz (280g) ribeye or sirloin steak, cubed
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the Fried Rice
- 3 cups cooked rice, chilled
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon oyster sauce
- 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, toss the cubed ribeye or sirloin steak with 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon olive oil, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Let it marinate for 15 minutes to enhance the flavor.
- Cook the Steak: Heat a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated steak cubes and sear them for 2 to 3 minutes until browned on the outside but still tender inside. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
- Sauté Garlic: Reduce the heat to medium in the same skillet, add 2 tablespoons butter and stir in the minced garlic. Cook for about 1 minute until the garlic is fragrant but not browned.
- Add Rice: Increase heat to high, then add 3 cups of chilled cooked rice to the skillet. Toss the rice with the garlic butter, spreading it out in the pan to allow it to crisp slightly.
- Flavor the Rice: Pour in 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 teaspoons sesame oil, and 1 teaspoon oyster sauce. Mix thoroughly until the rice is evenly coated and heated through.
- Combine and Garnish: Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the rice, toss to combine, and stir in 1/2 cup chopped green onions. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: Transfer the garlic butter steak fried rice to serving bowls and enjoy this flavorful, hearty dish immediately.
Notes
- Use chilled rice for better texture and prevent sogginess.
- You can substitute ribeye or sirloin with other steaks like flank or strip steak.
- If oyster sauce is unavailable, a splash of fish sauce or extra soy sauce can be used.
- Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper at the end to suit your taste.
- For a spicier kick, add some chili flakes or fresh sliced chili when sautéing garlic.
