Description

This recipe for Greek-Style Grilled Chicken Tenders features tender chicken marinated in a flavorful blend of olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and traditional Greek spices like oregano and cumin. Perfectly grilled to juicy perfection, these chicken tenders make a delicious Mediterranean main course that can be served with tzatziki, Greek salad, or pita bread.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Marinade

  • 1 pound chicken tenders
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Garnish (Optional)

  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon zest

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, dried oregano, ground cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  2. Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken tenders in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 1-2 hours, to allow the flavors to penetrate the chicken.
  3. Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, about 375°F (190°C). If using a grill pan, heat it on the stovetop over medium-high heat.
  4. Grill the Chicken: Remove the chicken tenders from the marinade, discarding any excess marinade. Place the chicken on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  5. Rest the Chicken: Remove the grilled chicken tenders from heat and let them rest for a few minutes to retain their juices.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Optionally garnish with chopped fresh parsley and lemon zest. Serve the chicken tenders with tzatziki sauce, atop a Greek salad, or wrapped in pita bread for a complete Mediterranean meal.

Notes

  • For best flavor, marinate the chicken for 1-2 hours, but 30 minutes is sufficient in a pinch.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) for food safety.
  • Adjust seasoning according to taste; additional lemon juice or herbs can be added for extra zest.
  • Leftover chicken tenders can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • This recipe can be adapted for oven broiling if a grill is not available.
