Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- ¾ cup warm milk (110°F)
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup melted butter
- 1 egg
- ½ tsp salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
Filling
- ¼ cup softened butter
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Activate yeast: Mix warm milk, yeast, and granulated sugar in a bowl. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes foamy, indicating the yeast is active and ready for dough preparation.
- Prepare dough: Add melted butter, egg, salt, and all-purpose flour to the yeast mixture. Knead the mixture for 5-7 minutes until a smooth dough forms. Cover the dough with a clean towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- Make cinnamon-sugar filling: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon thoroughly to prepare the sweet filling for the rolls.
- Assemble rolls: Roll the risen dough out on a lightly floured surface into a 10×14-inch rectangle. Spread softened butter evenly over the dough, sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture across the surface, and scatter the fresh or frozen blueberries on top.
- Shape rolls and second rise: Carefully roll the dough into a log starting from the longer side. Slice the log into 10-12 equal rolls and arrange them evenly in a greased baking dish. Cover and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes to achieve a puffy texture.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until they turn golden brown on top and are cooked through.
- Prepare glaze and serve: While the rolls are baking, combine powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl and mix until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls after baking and serve immediately for the best flavor experience.
Notes
- You can use fresh or frozen blueberries; if frozen, do not thaw before using to prevent excess moisture.
- For fluffier rolls, make sure your milk is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
- Adjust the amount of cinnamon to your taste preference.
- These rolls are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
- Reheat gently before serving to restore softness.
