Description

This Honey Garlic Salmon recipe features perfectly seared salmon fillets glazed with a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. Ready in just 20 minutes, it’s a quick and flavorful main course ideal for weeknight dinners. The dish is garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds for added texture and freshness, and pairs wonderfully with steamed rice or sautéed vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 4 salmon fillets, skin-on or skinless

Honey Garlic Sauce

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Optional Thickening

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (optional, for thicker sauce)

Garnish

  • Chopped green onions
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and black pepper until fully combined.
  2. Heat the skillet: Place a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and allow it to become hot.
  3. Sear the salmon: Place the salmon fillets in the skillet skin side down if using skin-on fillets. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes without moving them to get a nice sear.
  4. Flip and add sauce: Turn the salmon fillets over and pour the prepared honey garlic sauce evenly over them.
  5. Cook and glaze: Reduce the heat to medium and let the salmon cook for another 3 to 4 minutes until it is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Thicken sauce (optional): If you prefer a thicker glaze, stir the cornstarch-water mixture into the sauce during the last minute of cooking and let it bubble and thicken slightly.
  7. Finish and garnish: Remove the skillet from heat, spoon the sauce over the salmon fillets, then garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  8. Serve: Serve immediately with your choice of steamed rice, sautéed vegetables, or roasted potatoes for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Serve with steamed rice, sautéed vegetables, or roasted potatoes for a complete meal.
  • Adjust garlic and honey amounts to taste for a sweeter or more savory glaze.
  • Use skin-on salmon to get a crispy texture on the skin side if desired.
  • For a gluten-free version, ensure the soy sauce is gluten-free.
