Description
These Honey Garlic Turkey Meatballs are a delicious and healthy twist on classic meatballs, featuring lean ground turkey combined with a savory and sweet honey garlic sauce. Perfectly baked to juicy perfection, they make an easy and flavorful meal for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Meatballs:
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- Salt, to taste
For the Sauce:
- 3 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Prepare the meatball mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Form meatballs: Roll the mixture into evenly sized meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them spaced out on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the meatballs: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the meatballs are golden brown and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Make the sauce: While the meatballs bake, combine honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic in a small saucepan with olive oil over medium heat. Simmer gently for 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
- Toss meatballs in sauce: Once baked, transfer the meatballs to a bowl and toss them in the warm honey garlic sauce until they are evenly coated.
- Serve: Serve the meatballs immediately, alongside your favorite sides such as steamed rice, vegetables, or salad for a complete meal.
Notes
- Make sure to not overcrowd the baking sheet to ensure even cooking of the meatballs.
- Using lean ground turkey keeps the meatballs healthy while maintaining juiciness with the addition of egg and breadcrumbs.
- If you prefer a thicker sauce, continue simmering it a bit longer, but be careful not to burn the garlic.
- These meatballs can also be cooked in an air fryer at 375°F for 12-15 minutes for a quicker alternative.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
