Description

This refreshing Mango Strawberry Sorbet is a delightful frozen dessert perfect for warm days. Combining ripe mangoes and fresh strawberries with a touch of lime juice, it offers a naturally sweet and tangy flavor. Made without any cream or eggs, this sorbet is a light, fruity treat that’s easy to prepare at home with just a blender and a freezer.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruits

  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and diced (about 2 cups)
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

Sweetener and Liquids

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fruits: Peel and dice the mangoes into small pieces. Hull and slice the strawberries to prepare them for blending.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Place the diced mangoes, sliced strawberries, sugar, water, and lime juice (if using) into a blender or food processor for even mixing.
  3. Blend Smooth: Blend the mixture until it becomes completely smooth and creamy, ensuring no fruit chunks remain.
  4. Taste and Adjust: Taste the sorbet base and adjust the sweetness or add more lime juice if desired. Blend briefly again to mix any additional ingredients well.
  5. Freeze the Mixture: Pour the blended mixture into a shallow, freezer-safe dish and cover it tightly with an airtight lid or plastic wrap to prevent freezer burn.
  6. Freeze and Stir: Freeze for 4 to 6 hours. Every couple of hours, stir the sorbet with a fork or whisk to break up ice crystals and improve the texture.
  7. Serve: When fully frozen, remove the sorbet from the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften slightly. Scoop and serve chilled.

Notes

  • For a smoother texture, stir the sorbet every 30 minutes during the first 2 hours of freezing.
  • Adjust the sugar amount to your preferred sweetness, especially if the fruit is very ripe.
  • Lime juice is optional but adds a nice tang and helps balance the sweetness.
  • This sorbet is best consumed within 1 week of freezing.
  • You can substitute sugar with honey or agave syrup, but this may alter flavor and texture slightly.
