Scale
Main Ingredients
- 12 oz raw prawns, peeled and deveined
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 egg white
Bread & Coating
- 6 slices white bread, crusts removed
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds
For Frying
- Vegetable oil, for frying
To Serve
- 6 mini slider buns
- Lettuce leaves
- Sriracha mayo (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Prawn Paste: In a food processor, combine prawns, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, and egg white. Pulse until you achieve a smooth, uniform paste that will be easy to spread.
- Cut Bread: Take each slice of white bread and cut it diagonally into two triangles, resulting in 12 pieces total.
- Spread Paste on Bread: Generously spread the prawn paste onto one side of each bread triangle, ensuring an even coating for a good texture and flavor balance.
- Coat with Sesame Seeds: Dip the prawn-coated side of each bread piece into the sesame seeds, pressing gently to allow the seeds to adhere well to the prawn paste surface.
- Fry the Toasts: Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Place the prawn toasts sesame seed side down and fry for about 2 to 3 minutes until golden and crispy. Flip each piece and cook the other side for 1 to 2 minutes until cooked through and lightly browned.
- Drain Excess Oil: Remove the toasts from the pan and place them on paper towels to drain off any excess oil for a crispier finish.
- Assemble Sliders: Place a fresh lettuce leaf into each mini slider bun, add a piece of the prawn toast on top, and optionally spread some sriracha mayo for a spicy kick.
- Serve Warm: Serve the sliders immediately while warm to enjoy the best flavor and crunchy texture.
Notes
- Ensure prawns are peeled and deveined for the best texture.
- Egg white helps bind the prawn paste for spreading and frying.
- Press sesame seeds firmly to prevent them from falling off during frying.
- Use medium heat for frying to avoid burning the bread before the prawns cook through.
- Sriracha mayo is optional but adds a nice spicy contrast.
- Serve immediately to enjoy the crunchiness at its peak.
- You can substitute mini slider buns with small burger buns or soft dinner rolls.
