Ingredients
Scale
Tea Base
- 1 cup water
- 1 black tea bag (or 1 tablespoon loose leaf black tea)
- 1 cinnamon stick (or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon)
Sweetener and Flavoring
- 1 tablespoon honey or sweetener of choice (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Milk
- 1/2 cup milk (dairy or plant-based, such as almond or oat milk)
Instructions
- Boil Water and Add Spices and Tea: In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Once boiling, add the cinnamon stick or ground cinnamon along with the black tea bag or loose leaf tea.
- Steep the Tea: Allow the tea and cinnamon to steep for 4-5 minutes, adjusting the steeping time based on how strong you prefer your tea.
- Remove Tea Leaves and Sweeten: Remove the tea bag or strain out the loose tea leaves. Stir in 1 tablespoon of honey or your preferred sweetener until fully dissolved.
- Add Milk and Flavoring: Pour in the milk and add the vanilla extract if using. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
- Warm Gently: Heat the tea mixture gently over low heat until it is warm and creamy, avoiding boiling to preserve flavor and texture.
- Serve: Pour the sweet cinnamon milk tea into a mug, removing the cinnamon stick if used. Serve warm and enjoy your comforting beverage.
Notes
- Use plant-based milk such as almond or oat milk for a vegan version.
- Adjust the amount of honey or sweetener based on your taste preference.
- If using ground cinnamon, be sure to strain the tea well to avoid gritty texture.
- For a stronger cinnamon flavor, increase steeping time or add a second cinnamon stick.
- Vanilla extract is optional but adds a lovely depth of flavor.
