Description

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with these delightful heart-shaped pancakes, perfect for a romantic brunch. Fluffy and tender, these pancakes are flavored with vanilla and served with fresh strawberries and maple syrup for a sweet touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Pancakes

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Serving

  • Fresh strawberries (for garnish)
  • Maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir well to evenly distribute all the dry ingredients.
  2. Prepare wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until fully blended and smooth.
  3. Combine mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Do not overmix to keep the pancakes fluffy.
  4. Heat skillet: Preheat a griddle or non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with butter or oil to prevent sticking.
  5. Shape and cook pancakes: Place a heart-shaped cookie cutter on the skillet and carefully pour the batter inside the cutter. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, then carefully remove the cookie cutter and flip the pancake to cook the other side until golden brown.
  6. Serve: Plate the pancakes and garnish with fresh strawberries. Serve hot with maple syrup drizzled on top or on the side.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter to avoid tough pancakes; lumps are okay.
  • If you don’t have a heart-shaped cookie cutter, you can pour batter freehand or use any fun-shaped mold.
  • Adjust heat as needed to cook pancakes evenly without burning.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute milk with almond or oat milk and use coconut oil instead of butter.
  • Fresh strawberries can be substituted with other fresh fruits like blueberries or raspberries.
