Description

These Yogurt Dog Treats are a healthy, delicious, and easy-to-make frozen snack for your furry friend. Made with plain Greek yogurt, peanut butter, and optional mashed banana and honey, these treats are perfect for cooling down on a hot day or rewarding your dog with a wholesome snack. They require no baking and are simply frozen to achieve the perfect texture.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (unsweetened and unflavored)
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (ensure it doesn’t contain xylitol, toxic to dogs)

Optional Flavor Enhancers

  • 1/2 banana, mashed
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, check if dog tolerates honey)

Equipment

  • Silicone molds or ice cube tray (for shaping treats)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the plain Greek yogurt and peanut butter. Stir the mixture thoroughly until it is smooth and fully incorporated. If using mashed banana, mix it in at this stage to infuse extra flavor and natural sweetness.
  2. Add Sweetener (Optional): If you choose to use honey, add one tablespoon to the yogurt and peanut butter mixture. Stir well to blend the honey evenly throughout the mixture. This step is optional and can be skipped for a less sweet treat.
  3. Fill Molds or Tray: Pour the combined mixture evenly into silicone molds or an ice cube tray. Tap the molds gently on the countertop to eliminate any trapped air bubbles and ensure the mixture settles evenly inside each cavity.
  4. Freeze the Treats: Place the filled molds or tray into the freezer and allow the treats to freeze solid for 2 to 3 hours. This ensures they are firm and easy to remove from the molds.
  5. Serve and Store: Once the treats are completely frozen, carefully remove them from the molds and serve immediately to your dog. Store any remaining treats in an airtight container in the freezer where they will keep fresh for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Ensure peanut butter used does not contain xylitol, as it is extremely toxic to dogs.
  • Honey is optional; consult your veterinarian if your dog has allergies or sensitivities.
  • You can use any dog-safe mold shapes to make the treats more fun and appealing to your pet.
  • Frozen treats can help with teething in puppies or serve as a cooling snack in warm weather.
  • If your dog has any dietary restrictions, consult your veterinarian before introducing new treats.
